1,407 tonnes of potatoes exported to Nepal via Banglabandha
A total of 1,407 metric tonnes of Bangladeshi potatoes were exported to Nepal in a single day through the Banglabandha land port in Panchagarh.
Sixty-seven trucks carrying several varieties of potatoes, including the Asterix type, crossed the border by road after completing customs procedures throughout the day.
The information was confirmed on Thursday night by Nur Hasan, Additional Deputy Director of the Plant Quarantine Centre at Banglabandha Land Port.
Earlier, on Wednesday, 588 metric tonnes of potatoes were exported in 28 trucks. With this latest shipment, a total of 39,039 metric tonnes of potatoes have been exported through the port from January to Thursday this year.
“Exporters are sourcing potatoes from various districts across northern Bangladesh for shipment to Nepal. Due to high demand for Bangladeshi potatoes in Nepal, exports are steadily increasing,” said Nur Hasan.
