144 parties, including NCP, fail to meet EC registration criteria

None of the 144 parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP), that applied for registration have cleared the Election Commission's (EC) preliminary selection. The EC will issue letters to these parties, granting them 15 days to rectify the deficiencies.

EC Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz announced on Tuesday (July 15) that 62 parties will be contacted in the first phase, with the remaining parties to be contacted in the next phase. They will have 15 days to correct any discrepancies.

The EC had initially issued a public notice inviting registration applications from interested parties by April 20. However, after the National Citizen Party and several others submitted their applications, the deadline was extended to June 22.
