A case has been filed against 15 people, with another 30 to 40 unnamed individuals accused, over an alleged attack and vandalism of the vehicle of Sirajganj-3 MP VP Aynul Haque.

Raiganj police confirmed the case on Sunday (August 16).

Ahsanuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raniganj Police Station, said, "The case names 15 accused, while the identities of the unnamed suspects have not been disclosed in the interest of the investigation."

The case was filed at Raiganj Police Station late Saturday night by local BNP leader Shamimul Hasan, police said. No arrests have been made so far, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Khan.

The incident took place around 6pm Saturday at Dhangara Bazar in Raiganj. Aynul Haque accused leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir and the National Citizens Party (NCP) of carrying out the attack.

Jamaat and NCP have denied the allegations and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Raiganj upazila unit of Jamaat has called an emergency press conference for 3pm Sunday to explain its position on the incident.
