A total of sixteen vessels carrying LNG, LPG, and other refined fuels have entered the country over 12 days, with three more expected in the coming days, according to port authorities.

In the first ten days of March, three LNG carriers from Qatar—‘Al Jurr’, ‘Al Jasasiya’, and ‘Lusail’—unloaded around 62,000 tonnes each. On March 12, the vessel ‘Al Galayel’ arrived in Chattogram, discharging 26,165 tonnes of LNG into the floating storage and regasification unit.

Additionally, vessels from Malaysia and Oman have collectively unloaded 19,316 tonnes of LPG, with remaining tankers expected to complete discharge by mid-March.

Alongside LNG and LPG, refined fuels including furnace oil, gas oil, diesel, and base oil have also arrived.

According to Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, a total of about 147,000 tonnes of refined fuel and 4,000 tonnes of base oil have reached the country.

Despite geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting shipping routes and insurance costs, port officials said vessel movements have remained normal this month, ensuring no major disruption to electricity generation, industrial fuel supply, or household energy needs.
