16 shot, including child, in Munshiganj overnight attack
At least 16 people, including a child, were shot and 20 more people sustained various injuries in an overnight attack at Shreenagar in Munshiganj.
The incident took place at Rudrapara of Baghra Union in the upazila on Sunday night (March 8).
According to local sources, a group of assailants armed with shotguns, pistols, and sharp weapons stormed the house of a rival faction, the Mizan Group, while most residents were asleep. Victims were shot and attacked before they could react.
Khandakar Juel Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shreenagar Police Station, confirmed the attack to media.
He said, "The incident is linked to local territorial disputes between the Mannan and Mizan groups. Police, alerted by locals, rescued the injured and took them to Shreenagar Upazila Health Complex, with some transferred to hospitals in Dhaka and Dohar for advanced treatment."
Additional security measures have been deployed, including extra police and RAB-10 personnel. RAB-10’s Bhagyakul Camp has arrested three suspects: Mohosin Khan, Harun Rashid Khan, and Mannan Khan, while investigations continue to apprehend other participants.
The incident has spread panic in the area, and authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance.
