168 lower court judges transferred in major reshuffle

A total of 168 judges, including additional district judges, joint district judges, senior assistant judges, and assistant judges, have been transferred.

The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification regarding this matter on Sunday (September 8).

The transferred judges include 114 senior assistant judges and assistant judges, 47 additional district judges, and 7 joint district judges.

The Law and Justice Department stated that these officials of the Bangladesh Judicial Service were transferred in consultation with the Supreme Court.

The notification states that the transferred additional district judges are directed to assume their new posts immediately after handing over their current responsibilities to the designated officer of the District and Sessions Judge/Metropolitan Sessions Judge/Head of Office on September 12.

The notification further states that the transferred senior assistant judges and assistant judges are to report to the District and Sessions Judge, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Chief Judicial Magistrate, or the designated head of department officer on September 12. Judges currently in training or on leave are directed to assume their new posts immediately upon completing their training or vacation, following the handover of their current duties.

The transferred joint district judges have been instructed to assume their new posts by September 10, after handing over their current responsibilities to the designated officer of the District and Sessions Judge or Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
