17 Ansar members injured in airport fire, 9 admitted to CMH

Seventeen members of the Ansar force were injured while participating in firefighting and rescue operations following the fire at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Among them, nine seriously injured members have been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

The matter was confirmed on Saturday by Ashikuzzaman, Deputy Director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party.

He said that Ansar personnel recovered Tk 50 million from a City Bank booth during the operation. A total of 17 members were injured, nine of them critically. The army and air force have also joined the efforts to extinguish the fire.

The fire broke out at around 2:15 pm, and the Fire Service was informed at 2:30 pm. Four units were initially dispatched at 2:34 pm towards the airport. In total, 37 units arrived at the scene to control the blaze, according to the Fire Service.
