17 injured, bus falls into ditch on Dhaka-Tangail highway

A passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan overturned and fell into a ditch on the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Kalihati, injuring 17 people.

The accident occurred around 10am in the Dhlatengor area of ​​Kalihati upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Saturday (May 30). The injured have been rescued and admitted to Tangail General Hospital. Several of them are in critical condition.

Elenga Fire Service Station Officer Ataur Rahman Khan said that a passenger bus leaving Dhaka was heading towards the northern region. When the bus reached Dhlatengor area of ​​Kalihati upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway, the driver lost control. It then fell into a ditch on the side of the road.

He added that at least 17 passengers in the bus were injured after the accident. On receiving information, Elenga Fire Service members reached the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Tangail General Hospital. Some of the injured are in serious condition.
