17 MoUs signed during PM's China visit
During Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to China, a total of 17 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Bangladesh and China. These cover several key areas, including investment, government-level cooperation, and political communication.
Mahdi Amin, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced this during a press conference on Friday at the Diaoyutai Hotel in Beijing.
He stated that these MoUs were signed based on mutual consensus following bilateral discussions with the Chinese leadership. Among them, 13 agreements were made between various ministries of the two nations. Additionally, three MoUs were signed between the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and various Chinese investment institutions.
Another MoU was signed at the political party level. This agreement aims to enhance communication and cooperation between Bangladesh's ruling BNP and China's ruling Communist Party.
This was Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's first foreign tour since forming the government. He began his trip in Malaysia before visiting Dalian and Beijing in China.
During his stay in Beijing, he held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, followed by both private and bilateral discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Officials noted that the primary objectives of this visit were to reinforce Bangladesh-China relations, boost investment, and expand cooperation across various sectors.
