17,000 shotguns to be bought for Ansar before election: Finance Adviser

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said seventeen thousand shotguns will be purchased for Ansar before the election. He said the decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at the Secretariat on Tuesday, November 18.

The finance adviser said the weapons of the Ansar force have become very old, which is why this decision was taken.

He further said that according to the earlier decision, forty thousand body-worn cameras will not be bought for polling centre security. These will be provided only at high-risk centres. He added that the Election Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs will decide these matters through discussion, and the purchase will be done transparently.

The adviser also said that due to high demand, a decision has been made to allocate funds for purchasing one crore e-passport books. He added that considering the vaccine shortage, EPI vaccines will be procured. At the same time, to control prices, rice and wheat will be imported before Ramadan.
