A total of 176 Bangladeshi nationals who were residing irregularly in Libya have been safely brought back home.

The group arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning (September 18) aboard a chartered flight (UZ 0222) operated by Burak Air.

The repatriation operation was carried out through a joint effort involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Of the returnees, 172 had been detained at the Tajura Detention Center in Tripoli, while the remaining four were housed in an IOM shelter.

The authorities emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safe return of citizens living abroad under irregular circumstances and urged prospective migrants to follow legal channels when seeking employment overseas.
