176 more Bangladeshis to return home from Libya today
A total of 176 Bangladeshis have been repatriated from the Tajura Detention Center in Tripoli, the capital of Libya. Their repatriation process was completed on Wednesday (September 17) with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The repatriates will reach Dhaka on Thursday (September 18) morning.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli said that the embassy is working closely with the local authorities and IOM for the safe repatriation of the detained Bangladeshis. In continuation of this, these 176 people were sent back to the country from the Tajura Detention Center.
The repatriates are expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8 am on Thursday via Libya's Buraq Airlines (flight number UZ222).
A delegation of the embassy led by Ambassador Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashar bid farewell to the Bangladeshis at the reception center of the Libyan Immigration Department.
At the time, the ambassador highlighted the negative aspects of illegal immigration and urged the returnees to be careful in the future. He said that going abroad illegally not only causes financial and physical losses to the individual, but also causes suffering to the family and society. Besides, such activities tarnish the image and reputation of the country.
