The percentage of votes cast in the 12th parliamentary election till 12:10pm was 18.5 percent. Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam confirmed the information in a press briefing at the EC Secretariat on Sunday afternoon. The voter turnout in most of the polling centres in Dhaka was seen to be low in the first two hours after the 12th national election began at 8:00am on Sunday. Visiting several polling stations in Dhaka, our correspondents found a thin presence of voters. They reported that there were no queues outside the centres. However, the supporters and activists of aspirants were seen standing outside the voting centres. Voters' number will increase after 12:00pm, hoped authorities concerned.

দুপুর ১২টা ১০ মিনিট পর্যন্ত দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে ১৮ দশমিক ৫ শতাংশ ভোট পড়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিব জাহাঙ্গীর আলম। সচিবালয়ে প্রেস ব্রিফিংসে তিনি এ তথ্য জানান। নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিব বলেন, “দুপুর ১২টা ১০ মিনিট পর্যন্ত দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে প্রদত্ত ভোটের হার ১৮ দশমিক ৫ শতাংশ।” এদিকে, আজ সকাল ৮টায় দ্বাদশ জাতীয় নির্বাচন শুরু হওয়ার পর প্রথম দুই ঘণ্টায় ঢাকার বেশিরভাগ ভোটকেন্দ্রে ভোটার উপস্থিতি কম দেখা গেছে। ঢাকার বেশ কয়েকটি ভোটকেন্দ্র পরিদর্শন করে আমাদের সংবাদদাতারা এ দৃশ্য দেখতে পান। সংবাদদাতারা জানিয়েছে, কেন্দ্রগুলির বাইরে কোনও সারি ছিল না। তবে ভোট কেন্দ্রের বাইরে প্রার্থীদের কর্মী-সমর্থকদের দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখা গেছে। সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ আশা করছেন, দুপুর ১২টার পর ভোটার সংখ্যা বাড়বে।
