Tribunal orders confiscation of half the property of 5 death-row convicts including Quader

The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered the confiscation of half the property of five of the seven accused sentenced to death in the case of crimes against humanity committed during July 2024, excluding Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.

A court has sentenced Suparna Sur Chowdhury, wife of former Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury, to two years in prison in a case filed over failure to submit a wealth statement. She has also been fined Tk 1 lakh, with an additional three months of imprisonment in default of the fine.

Verdict against Quader, 6 others in crimes against humanity case today

The International Crimes Tribunal will deliver its verdict in the case of crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and six other top leaders of Chhatra League and Jubo League. The verdict will determine the fate of these seven fugitive leaders. The prosecution has sought the maximum punishment for them.
