Health minister makes surprise visit to Habiganj hospital, transfers absent pharmacist
Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain made an unannounced visit to the 250-bed Sadar Modern Hospital in Habiganj and took immediate action against a pharmacist who was absent from duty.
Record number of dengue patients admitted to hospital in one day, 2 deaths
The Directorate General of Health Services has reported that the number of dengue patients admitted to hospital has crossed all past records and reached a new highest level. In the last 24 hours 996 people have been admitted to various hospitals across the country after being infected with dengue. In the same period two more people have died from this mosquito-borne disease. This is the highest in terms of patients admitted to hospital in one day this year.
3 more die with measles symptoms, 943 infected in a day
Three more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 886 new cases of measles-like symptoms were reported, while 57 more people were confirmed with measles through tests. Two of the deceased were residents of Dhaka division.
Five more die with measles symptoms, 1,180 infected
Five more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. Of them, three were from Sylhet division. During the same period, measles symptoms appeared in 1,110 new patients, while another 70 people were confirmed to have measles.
No death from dengue in 24 hours, 868 admitted to hospital
The Directorate General of Health Services has reported that no one has died from dengue in the country in the last 24 hours. However 868 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospital in the same period.
7 children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours, death toll rises to 950
Seven more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. During this period, 1,171 children were infected with measles and measles-like symptoms.
Final appointment of another 184 doctors in 48th BCS
The government has given final appointment to another 184 doctors from the 48th BCS (Special) organised to end the shortage of doctors in the country. The new recruitment branch of the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday (August 25).
Production of 60 percent essential medicines stopped: BAPI
Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) has said that various pharmaceutical companies have stopped production of nearly 60 percent of the medicines in the list of 117 essential medicines of the country. Although production costs have been increasing continuously, it has not been possible to continue production in the face of losses as the prices of these medicines have not been adjusted for a long time, the association informed.

Three more deaths from dengue were reported in the country over the past 24 hours, while 907 more patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease.
5 more children die with measles-like symptoms
Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours until 8am. During this period, 1,077 children were infected with measles and measles-like symptoms.
