2 Advisers, Press Secretary confined at Milestone School
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul and Education Adviser Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar were confined inside Milestone School and College on Tuesday morning following intense protests by students. They were accompanied by Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.
The trio had arrived at the school shortly after 10:30 AM to inspect the site of a recent aircraft crash when students confronted them with chants of "fake, fake" and demanded accountability from the government. The atmosphere quickly escalated, prompting the advisors to seek refuge within the school premises.
The students’ primary grievances stem from delays in announcing the postponement of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams and allegations that officials are withholding accurate data regarding casualties—those dead, injured, or missing—from the crash.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam arrived at the scene moments after the advisers and was also caught up in the unrest. Authorities have since arranged a microphone, as the advisors plan to address the students directly in an effort to de-escalate the situation.
Security personnel have been placed on alert as efforts continue to resolve the standoff.
