Police have arrested two so-called 'content creators' accused of harassing two foreign tourists in Natore's Lalpur upazila. They were sent to Natore District Jail through a court on Sunday (May 10). The incident has generated widespread criticism on social media.

The arrested persons are Aminul Islam, 29, son of Tamir Uddin of Haridagachi village in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi, and Russell Islam, 23, son of Ayen Uddin of Aradighi village in Tanore upazila.

According to police and complaint sources, an event called 'TikTok Bandhu Milon Mela-2026' was organized at Green Valley Park in Natore's Lalpur upazila last Friday (May 8). The event was organized by alleged TikToker Mohammad Sadhu. About a hundred men and women participated there.

At one stage, two foreign nationals working at the Ruppur Nuclear Power Project were passing through the park when a group of 10 to 15 people blocked their path. It is alleged that they made obscene comments towards the foreigners and recorded a video. Later, the video went viral on social media, causing a huge backlash.

Upon learning of the incident, park manager SM Wazedur Rahman and other employees came forward and brought the situation under control. Later, a complaint was filed with Lalpur Police Station on behalf of the park authorities.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalpur Police Station Md. Shafiqul Islam said that a special team conducted a drive under the direction of the Natore Superintendent of Police and conducted searches in various areas of Rajshahi and Natore. Two people have been arrested on charges of recording and making the video viral.

He also said that the police operation is continuing to identify and arrest others involved in the incident. Legal action will be taken against those involved after the investigation.
