Two Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights from Dhaka to Kuwait and Dubai (via Chattogram) were cancelled on Tuesday (August 12) due to mechanical issues affecting several aircraft.

According to airline sources, both flights were scheduled to be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The BG-343 flight (Dhaka-Kuwait) at 3:45pm and the Dhaka-Chattogram-Dubai flight at 5:05pm were cancelled. The airline’s public relations department said these flights will operate on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, five engineers were dispatched today to repair a grounded Dreamliner in Rome. If the repairs are completed by the evening, the passengers and crew currently staying in hotels will be flown back to Dhaka.

The aircraft malfunctioned in Rome on August 10, and since then, 262 passengers and crew have been accommodated in hotels.

Notably, over the past month, at least nine Biman aircraft have experienced mechanical issues, including wheel detachments, tire bursts, excessive engine vibrations, rising cabin temperatures, and problems with landing gear doors.
