2 brothers killed, 3 others injured in Bogura bus collision
Two brothers were killed and three others injured when a bus collided with a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Shajahanpur, Bogura.
The incident took place around 12:20am on Friday (August 8), on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway, in front of Proyas School in Majhira Union.
The deceased was identified as Akash, 25 and Arif, 21, sons of Hazrat Ali from Banmaricha village in Sherpur upazila.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the five passengers, including the driver, were traveling from Bogura city to Sherpur when their autorickshaw collided head-on with a bus (Dhaka Metro-B-13-2589) coming from the opposite direction. The force of the crash caused the autorickshaw to flip, killing Akash instantly.
Fire service personnel rescued the injured and transported them to Shajahanpur Upazila Health Complex. Arif later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The injured include Haider Ali, 50, Abdul Aziz, 38, and Md. Polash, 35, the autorickshaw driver.
All from the same village.
Shafiqul Islam Polash, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shajahanpur Police Station, confirmed that the bus fled the scene following the collision. "The autorickshaw has been seized by the Highway Police Sherpur camp, and legal action is underway," he said.
"The seriously injured victims have been admitted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMEC) Hospital for further treatment," he added.
