2 brothers killed as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Rajshahi
Two brothers in a battery-powered autorickshaw were killed when a truck hit them in Puthia, Rajshahi. Two others were seriously injured in the incident.
The accident occurred in front of the Yamaha motorcycle showroom in Baneshwar area of Puthia upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon (June 17).
The deceased were Abdul Khalek Pramanik, 65, and Hasen Pramanik, 60, residents of Nakulbaria village in Puthia. Both of them are sons of the deceased Riaz Pramanik.
The injured were Lalon, son of Hatem, and Laltu, son of Jalal, from the same area. After the accident, locals rescued them and took them to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital.
Locals said that four passengers were going towards Rajshahi in an autorickshaw to buy a microphone for a mosque in Nakulbaria area. A truck was going towards Natore from the opposite direction. When the truck reached in front of the Baneshwar Yamaha showroom, it hit the autorickshaw. One person was killed on the spot and three others were seriously injured. Later, they were taken to the hospital, where one of them died while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paba Highway Police Station Mahabur Rahman said that one person died on the spot in the accident. The three seriously injured were taken to Ramech Hospital, where Hasen Pramanik died while undergoing treatment.
He also said that the driver and helper of the truck fled after the accident. However, the truck has been seized. Legal action has been taken in this regard.
