2 central leaders of Chhatra Dal expelled over attack on police station

The Bangladesh Nationalist Jatiyatabadi Dal has expelled two central leaders of Chhatra Dal based on specific allegations of breach of organizational discipline. They are - Central Committee Joint General Secretary Mohammad Hossain Mithun and Co-General Secretary Riazul Hasan Russell.

This information was given in a press release signed by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Office Secretary (Co-President rank) Md. Jahangir Alam at 7:30 pm on Friday (January 24).

The expulsion order said that according to the decision of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, central committee, Joint General Secretary Mohammad Hossain Mithun and Co-General Secretary Riazul Hasan Russell have been temporarily expelled based on unfounded allegations of breach of discipline. Permanent measures will be taken after further investigation.

It further said that Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved this decision and instructed all levels of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and activists not to have any organizational relationship with them.

It is worth noting that the New Market Police Station has arrested Mohammad Hossain Mithun, Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chhatra Dal, on charges of involvement in the incident of hacking and injuring a businessman on Elephant Road in the capital. In this incident, Chhatra Dal leader Mithun was attacked by his supporters on Friday (January 24) by the New Market Police Station to release him. Five policemen, including the AC of the New Market Zone, were injured in this incident. Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal decided to temporarily expel Mithun and Central Co-General Secretary Riazul Hasan Russell in this incident.
