2 children die of measles symptoms at Faridpur Medical College

Two children have died while undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital with measles symptoms.

The Civil Surgeon's Office confirmed the matter in a press release on Thursday (April 9) afternoon.

The deceased children are Sabiha, a 7-month-old daughter of Selim of Sannyasirchar area of ​​Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district, and Ayatullah, a 6-month-old daughter of Jasim of Sarishagram in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district.

According to sources from the Civil Surgeon's Office, they were admitted to the hospital three days ago with measles symptoms. Sabiha died around 9 pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment and Ayatullah died around 8 am on Thursday.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Faridpur Civil Surgeon Mahmudul Hasan said that samples of the two children were collected and sent to IEDCR in Mohakhali in Dhaka. However, they died before the results came.

The incident has raised concerns in the area. The Health Department said that the matter is being monitored seriously.
