2 children die with measles symptoms, 1,297 infected
Two more children have died with measles symptoms in the country. With this, the death toll has reached 948, while 100 people have died from confirmed measles.
The information was provided in a message on the measles situation from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday, September 18.
It said that between 8am on Thursday and 8am on Friday, no one died from confirmed measles, but two died with suspected measles. With this, the total number of deaths from measles-related illness from April 10 to date has reached 1,048.
Additionally, 52 new confirmed measles cases were detected. At the same time, 1,245 new suspected measles patients were identified.
According to DGHS data, 177,725 suspected measles patients have been found from April 10 to date. On the other hand, 20,395 confirmed measles patients were detected during the same period.
According to divisional figures, the highest number of deaths from confirmed measles, 63, was recorded in Dhaka. Additionally, 19 died in Barishal, 10 in Chattogram, three each in Sylhet and Rajshahi, and two in Mymensingh.
At the same time, the highest number of deaths from suspected measles, 426, was recorded in Dhaka division. A total of 165 died in Sylhet, 93 in Rajshahi, 77 in Mymensingh, 74 in Chattogram, 59 in Barishal, 40 in Khulna and 14 in Rangpur.
