2 children missing from Bogura rescued in Dhaka
Police have rescued two children who went missing from Bogura from the Sonargaon crossing area of the capital. They were rescued on Friday noon after going missing on their way to school on Thursday morning. The family alleged that the two children had been abducted and kept confined at an unknown place over previous enmity.
The rescued children are Md Rian (11) and Md Roni (13). Among them, a complaint has been filed by Rian's family with Bogura Sadar Police Station. In it, the names of two neighbours were mentioned, and four to five unidentified others were made defendants.
In the complaint, Md Ashaduzzaman Nur Rasel said Rian and Roni left their homes in Ramshahar Purbapara around 9:30am on Thursday to go to school. They did not return home after that. Family members searched in various places but could not find them.
The complaint stated that the family believes two neighbours abducted the two children and hid them at an unknown place over previous enmity. The complaint also mentioned that people in the neighbourhood know, have seen and heard about the matter.
Meanwhile, around 12:30pm on Friday, Sergeant Palash Kumar Ray of the Traffic Tejgaon zone saw the two children crying and frightened on the road behind the police box on the south side of Sonargaon crossing.
Later, when he went to them and asked for their identity and home address, they wanted to speak to their father and started crying. At that time, the two children told police that unidentified person or persons had blindfolded them and taken them away. They were later kept confined in a warehouse. They said they managed to flee from there.
Contacting the mobile number given by the two children, police learned their home is in Bogura. They had been missing since leaving home for school around 9:30am on October 1.
Later, police contacted the maternal uncle of one of the children, who was in Dhaka. The two children were then handed over to Kalabagan Police Station.
