Unidentified individuals hurled two crude bombs in front of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday night.

The first explosion occurred around 10:00 pm, followed by a second blast about 45 minutes later at 10:45 pm, according to BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

At a press conference following the incident, Rizvi strongly condemned the attacks, calling for swift action from law enforcement to identify and arrest those responsible.

He said that the bombs were thrown by “cowards” attempting to create fear reminiscent of the current government’s rule under Sheikh Hasina. However, Rizvi emphasized that such acts will not intimidate BNP leaders or activists.

While the BNP leader suggested they have an idea who might be behind the attacks, he stressed that it is the government’s duty to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Rizvi also appealed to all political parties to avoid exploiting the situation, warning that such actions could lead to serious consequences.

Earlier, BNP leaders and activists, led by Rizvi, organized a procession in front of the party office to protest the bombings.

No injuries were reported, but the blasts caused panic among locals in the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Motijheel division, Shahriar Al Mamun, confirmed that unidentified miscreants were responsible and said the police are investigating the matter as a top priority.
