2 CU students on life support after clash with locals
Two students of Chittagong University (CU) have been placed on life support following a violent clash with local residents near the university campus. The incident, which took place on Sunday night (August 31), left several students injured, with two in critical condition.
The injured students Imtiaz Ahmed, a student of the International Relations Department, and Mamun Mia from the Sociology Department are currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Parkview Hospital in Chattogram.
According to hospital authorities, both students underwent emergency surgery and were placed on life support later that night. Mamun’s condition has shown slight improvement, and doctors may remove his life support by Monday afternoon. However, Imtiaz remains in critical condition, hospital sources said.
Parkview Hospital’s Deputy General Manager, Humayun Kabir, confirmed the situation, stating: “Two students are currently on life support. Six others are also receiving treatment in the casualty ward.”
The six other injured students have been identified as Sadid Mahbub, Mizanur Rahman, Md. Saiful, Rohan, Baharul Islam, and Kamal Uddin. They reportedly sustained injuries to their hands and legs, but their condition has since improved.
Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the clash, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
