2 drown in boat capsize while collecting water lilies in Gazipur

A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning in Panchua village of Kapasia Upazila when two friends drowned after their boat capsized while collecting water lilies.

The incident took place around 9 a.m. in a water lily pond. According to Mohammad Mamun, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, the two friends set out early to gather water lilies but unfortunately, the boat overturned mid-pond.

It is believed that neither of the victims knew how to swim, which led to their drowning. Fire Service teams were dispatched to the site upon receiving the emergency call and successfully recovered both bodies.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

Authorities have urged caution when venturing onto water bodies, especially for those who cannot swim.
