A tragic accident at an under-construction building in Jashore claimed the lives of three individuals, including two engineers, after a section of the roof collapsed during plastering work on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place around 12 noon at the six-story building of Future Limited Company located in Iqbal Manzil, Circuit House Para, Jashore. The victims — Engineer Mizanur Rahman (35), Engineer Azizul Islam, and laborer Nuru (45) — fell from the fifth-floor cornice when it gave way.

Local resident and district Jubo Dal leader M. Tamal Ahmed said the building’s western section was still under construction, while the rest of the structure had been completed. The cornice on the fifth floor suddenly broke, causing the fatal fall.

Laborer Mujibur Rahman, who witnessed the incident, said the victims sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital. However, doctors declared all three dead upon arrival.

Abul Hasnat, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed that the bodies are currently at the hospital morgue. Police and fire service teams visited the site to conduct an initial inspection.

The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
