Due to stormy weather, several international and domestic flights could not land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on time. At that time, an international flight circled in the sky for a while and went to Kolkata, and a domestic flight returned to Chattogram.

Airport sources said that these flights were scheduled to land between 11:30am and 12pm on Monday (May 25).

Airport sources said that a China Southern Airlines flight departing from Guangzhou, China was scheduled to land in Dhaka around 12pm. However, after staying in the sky of Dhaka for a while, it was unable to land and headed for Kolkata, India.

At the same time, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Chattogram to Dhaka was unable to land in Dhaka during the final stages of landing. Later, it returned to Chattogram.

The stormy weather disrupted the schedules of several other flights during this time. Among them, several flights of Qatar Airways, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines and Thai Airways could not land on time.

When the weather became somewhat normal, the flights started landing in stages after 12:30pm.

Sources said that due to stormy winds and adverse weather conditions in the sky of Dhaka, the landing operations were complicated for some time. The pilots made alternative decisions, giving utmost importance to the safety of the passengers.
