2 friends killed in road accident on way to Sylhet

Two friends lost their lives in a road accident on their way to Sylhet from Dhaka. The accident occurred around 1am at the Saheb Bari bus stand area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Monday night (May 25).

The deceased are Abul Bashar, 35, son of Abdul Baten of Beghred village in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district, and Ashiq Ahmed, 25, son of Selim Mia of capital's Khilkhet area.

According to the family sources of the deceased, the two friends were going to Sylhet on a motorcycle. On the way, they met with an accident when they reached Saheb Bari Gate area in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj. However, the family or the police have not yet confirmed how the accident happened.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, Shayestaganj Highway Police reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased. It is learnt that the bodies were later handed over to their relatives after completing the legal process.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station, Shuvo Ranjan Chakma, said that the exact cause of the accident is not yet known. The matter is being investigated.
