Police have detained a Chinese national and a Bangladeshi man in Kendua upazila of Netrokona on suspicion of involvement in an international human trafficking ring.

The arrests took place early Monday morning around 4:30am in Kamalpur village under Kendua municipality.

The detainees have been identified as Li Weihao, a Chinese citizen, and Md. Faridul Islam, a local broker.

Confirming the incident, Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kendua Police Station, said the suspects are currently in police custody and that an investigation is underway.

According to police and local sources, an 18-year-old girl from Kamalpur village, who was employed at a garment factory in Gazipur, was lured by Faridul Islam into marrying Li Weihao. The Chinese national reportedly planned to take her to China, and her passport had already been prepared.

Authorities say there is substantial evidence suggesting that the marriage was part of a broader scheme to traffic women abroad. Based on this, both suspects were taken into custody for questioning.
