Two Jatiya Party-nominated candidates in Chuadanga have withdrawn their candidacy from the National Assembly elections, bringing the total number of party candidates who have withdrawn from the race to 11. They are-Adv. Sohrab Hossain (Chuadanga-1) and Rabiul Islam (Chuadanga-2). They jointly made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday (January 3), citing the party's indecisiveness and lack of cooperation and communication with the candidates. They also boycotted the 12th national parliament election scheduled to be held on January 7. Rabiul Islam, Chuadanga district unit general secretary of Jatiya Party, said that “We expected the cooperation from the party. But they did not communicate or cooperate in any way. That is why we withdrew ourselves from the election.”

চুয়াডাঙ্গার দুটি আসনে জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন থেকে সরে দাঁড়ানোর ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন জাতীয় পার্টির দুই প্রার্থী। বুধবার (৩ জানুয়ারি) দুপুরে জেলা আইনজীবী সমিতির কার্যালয়ে সংবাদ সম্মেলন করে নির্বাচন বর্জনের ঘোষণা দেন তারা। এ নিয়ে জাতীয় পার্টির মোট ১১ জন প্রার্থী নির্বাচন থেকে সরে দাঁড়ালেন। প্রার্থীরা হলেন-চুয়াডাঙ্গা-১ আসনে জাতীয় পার্টির মনোনীত লাঙ্গল প্রতীকের প্রার্থী অ্যাড. সোহরাব হোসেন এবং চুয়াডাঙ্গা-২ আসনের প্রার্থী রবিউল ইসলাম। দলীয় সিদ্ধান্তহীনতাকে দায়ী করে প্রার্থীরা বলেন, দলের চেয়ারমান ও মহাসচিব নির্বাচন সংক্রান্ত বিষয়ে একের পর এক সিদ্ধান্ত পরিবর্তন এবং প্রার্থীদের সঙ্গে অসহযোগিতা ও যোগাযোগ বিচ্ছিন্ন রাখার কারণে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়। সংবাদ সম্মেলনে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জেলা জাতীয় পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও চুয়াডাঙ্গা-২ আসনের জাতীয় পার্টির মনোনীত প্রার্থী রবিউল ইসলাম। তিনি বলেন, ‘দলের সহযোগিতা আমরা আশা করেছিলাম। কিন্তু তারা কোনো প্রকার যোগাযোগ বা সহযোগিতা করেনি। সেজন্যই আমরা নির্বাচন থেকে পিছিয়ে গেলাম।’
