2 killed, 1 injured as train hits motorcycle in Chuadanga
Two young men were killed and another injured after a train struck their motorcycle in Darshana upazila of Chuadanga.
The accident took place near Dudhpatila Rail Gate of the Upazila last night (June 18).
The deceased were identified as Suman, 24 and Raj, 25.
According to injured motorcycle passenger Abdul Kader (22), the three was returning home after attending language and electrical training classes at a private institution in the Chhoymile area of Chuadanga Sadar upazila when the accident occurred.
He said that as they were crossing the railway track near the Dudhpatila rail gate area in Darshana, their motorcycle was hit by the Khulna-bound Mahananda Mail train, which was heading towards Chapainawabganj.
Suman and Raj died on the spot in the collision.
Locals rescued Abdul Kader and took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
Dr Afreena Islam, an emergency department physician at the hospital, said Abdul Kader was later referred to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Confirming the matter, Chuadanga GRP outpost SI Jagadish Chandra Basu (In-Charge) said, "Their bodies have been recovered by police."
Legal procedures regarding the incident are underway, he added.
