Four killed, 11 injured in separate road crash in Gaibandha
At least four people were killed and 11 others injured in two separate road accidents in Gaibandha’s Palashbari and Gobindaganj upazilas.
In Palashbari, a passenger bus of Kazi Line traveling from Dhaka to Gaibandha collided with a cement-laden truck around 7:00am near Thutia Pukur in dense fog. Musa Akand, 25, a bus helper, and passenger Jamil Hossain, 20, died on the spot. Seven others were injured and admitted to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Police seized the vehicles, but the drivers remain at large.
Earlier, around 11:00pm Thursday, a high-speed truck hit a motorcycle near Fashitola in Gobindaganj, killing two riders — Abdul Jalil Roni, 42, and Siddiqur Rahman, 45. Another rider was injured and taken to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex. The truck was recovered, but the driver and helper fled.
Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station, said, "The victims’ bodies were recovered during the night and handed over to their families. The injured have been admitted to the hospital."
"The truck involved was seized, but the driver and his assistant remain at large," he added.
