2 killed, 10 injured in head-on bus collision in Mymensingh
Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.
The accident took place around 8:00am in front of Tasrif Cotton Mill on the Mymensingh-bound highway on Saturday (September 13).
However, the identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
According to ABM Mehedi Masud, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhaluka Highway Police Station, a Mymensingh-bound passenger bus operated by Shyamoli Bangla Paribahan collided with another unidentified bus coming from the opposite direction.
Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities. Some of the more critically wounded were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while others were treated at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex.
"Two of the injured were pronounced dead by doctors after being taken to the hospital," OC Mehedi Masud said. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased.
Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model Police Station, confirmed that both buses involved in the accident have been seized.
"An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway," he added.
