Two people were killed and three others injured after a car carrying them crashed into a roadside tree in Mollahat upazila of Bagerhat district on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Riyad, a resident of the Daudkandi upazila of Comilla district, and Tarek, a private car driver, also a resident of the same upazila. The injured are Habibur Rahman of Muradnagar upazila, Russel of Daudkandi upazila, and Sorab Hossain of Titas upazila of Cumilla district. The accident occurred at Mejhera Gawla area of the upazila around 3:00 am, as per media reports. The injured have been sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital, said Sheikh Nuruzzaman Chanu, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat Highway Police. Necessary legal action will be taken by contacting the families of the dead and injured, he said.

বাগেরহাটের মোল্লাহাটে গাছের সঙ্গে প্রাইভেট কারের ধাক্কায় চালকসহ দুইজন নিহত হয়েছেন। আহত হয়েছেন আরও তিনজন। সোমবার (১১ নভেম্বর) রাত সাড়ে তিনটার দিকে উপজেলার মেঝেরা গাওলায় এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহতরা হলেন- কুমিল্লার দাউদকান্দির প্রাইভেট কারের চালক তারেক এবং একই উপজেলার বাসিন্দা রিয়াদ। আহতরা হলেন- মুরাদনগর উপজেলার হাবিবুর রহমান, দাউদকান্দি উপজেলার রাসেল এবং তিতাস উপজেলার সোরাব হোসেন। তাদের খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছে। মোল্লাহাট হাইওয়ে থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) শেখ নুরুজ্জামান চানু বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে এবং আহতদের খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছে। তাদের পরিবারের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করে আইনি ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
