2 Killed, 4 Injured in Pickup-CNG Auto-Rickshaw Collision in Teknaf
Two people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:20 am on October 10 in the Keruntali area of Hoikong Union under Teknaf Upazila, along the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.
The deceased were identified as Enayet Ullah, the auto-rickshaw driver, and a young man named Sajib from Chapainawabganj. Enayet Ullah was a resident of Ward No. 8 in South Mithachhari Union of Ramu Upazila, Cox’s Bazar. He was the son of Kefayet Ullah.
According to local sources, the auto-rickshaw was carrying passengers on Saturday morning when it collided head-on with a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact left the auto-rickshaw badly mangled. Six people, including the driver, sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Following the collision, local residents rescued the injured and took them to Palongkhali Tajman Hospital, where doctors declared Enayet Ullah dead. The other injured passengers were later taken to the Save the Children Hospital in Chakmarkul. After receiving initial treatment, they were referred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for advanced medical care.
Sajib later died while undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. The four other injured passengers were identified as Helal Uddin, 32, son of Abul Kalam from Farirbil in Ward No. 8 of Palongkhali Union in Ukhiya; Nurul Absar of Ramu; Rujina Akter; and Monowara Begum.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nurul Absar of Hoikong Highway Police said he had received information about the deaths but had yet to obtain detailed information about the accident. Both the pickup truck and the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were seized from the scene following the collision.
