2 killed as train hits truck in Gazipur

Two people, including the driver, were killed when a dump truck was crushed after being hit by the “Panchagarh Express” train at an unprotected level crossing in Gazipur.

The accident occurred around 1:30am on Tuesday (September 2) in Dakshinkhan area of the city. The identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately.

Md Nadiruzzaman, in-charge of the Railway Police outpost, confirmed the matter.

He said the Dhaka-bound Panchagarh Express collided with a dump truck while it was crossing the unprotected level crossing at around 1:30am. One person died on the spot as the truck was mangled in the crash.

Another injured person succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. The bodies have been kept in the hospital morgue, the police official added.
