2 killed in BSF firing at Feni Border

Two Bangladeshi youth was killed and another injured in Indian Border Guard Security Force (BSF)firing when they attempted to illegally cross into India through the Feni border at midnight on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Md Millat Hossain, 21, Md Liton, 32, and the injured as Md Afsar, 31, of Feni's Parshuram upazila, BGB Feni Battalion Chief Lt Col Md Mosharraf confirmed this when speaking to reporters early Friday (July 25).

According to locals, when the two approached the Indian border, BSF opened fire. The villagers rushed the two to the Feni General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Millat as dead.

Regarding the incident, Lt Col Md Mosharraf said, "The BGB will lodge protest against the casualties in a letter to the BSF."

Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mosharraf Hossain said, "BGB's Gutuma BOP patrol team visited the area near pillar 2164/3S and learned from locals that the victims had crossed into Indian territory, where they were shot by the BSF. An investigation is underway to determine why they crossed the border at night."

"BGB will hold a flag meeting with the BSF and issue a formal protest," he added.
