2 killed in gas cylinder explosion at Lakshmipur filling station

Two people were killed and three others injured in a gas cylinder explosion while refueling a bus at a station in Lakshmipur municipality on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Abul Kalam, 21, a passenger, and Md Rubel Hossain, 30, a staff member of the bus.

Lakshmipur Model Police Station OC Abdul Monnaf confirmed the matter.

According to witnesses, the explosion occurred while the gas cylinder of the bus was being refilled at the Green Leaf CNG filling station in the Islam Market area. Kalam died at the scene, and four others were injured in the incident.

OC Monnaf added that fire service personnel, assisted by locals, recovered the body and rushed the injured to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, Rubel died from his injuries while being taken to hospital.

This incident comes less than two months after a similar explosion at the same station on October 14, which killed three people and injured nine others.
