2 killed in separate attacks within an hour in Dhaka
Two separate murders took place within the span of an hour in the capital’s Mohammadpur and Adabor areas on Wednesday evening. One victim was hacked to death, while the other was fatally shot.
According to police sources, the first incident occurred around 7:00 PM in Lautola on Chand Udyan Road, Mohammadpur. A 30-year-old man named Al-Amin was attacked and killed with a sharp weapon, reportedly due to an ongoing personal dispute.
Sub-Inspector S.M. Nuruzzaman of Mohammadpur Police Station confirmed the nature of the attack, stating, “Al-Amin was hacked to death with a sharp weapon. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.”
Just an hour later, around 8:00 PM, another murder occurred in the Nabodoy Housing area of Adabor. Ibrahim Shikdar, a driver by profession, was shot dead. Law enforcement officials have since taken two suspects into custody.
At approximately 10:30 PM, Deputy Commissioner Ibn-e-Mizan of the DMP’s Tejgaon Division provided further details. He said that the victim’s brother-in-law had previously worked at an egg shop owned by the accused individuals. A few days prior, a van carrying eggs overturned, causing financial losses to the business. In response, the shop owners assaulted the brother-in-law.
Ibrahim reportedly arranged a mediation meeting to resolve the issue. During the discussion, a verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation. As the accused were leaving the scene on a motorcycle, they opened fire indiscriminately, fatally shooting Ibrahim.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents.
