2 killed in stampede during Eid-E-Miladunnabi procession in Ctg

Two people were killed and 10 others were injured in a stampede during a religious procession marking Eid-E-Miladunnabi in Chattogram’s Muradpur area on Saturday noon (September 6).

The deceased were identified as Ayub Ali, 60, of Patiya upazila, and Saiful Islam, 14, of Kalamia Bazar in the city. Both were declared dead after being taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Sohel Rana, assistant in-charge of the CMCH police outpost, confirmed the deaths, saying one of the injured has been admitted to the intensive care unit.

Witnesses reported several people collapsed in the crowd, apparently due to heat, causing panic. In the ensuing chaos, many were trampled.

Sadequl Islam, a member of the Anjumane Rahmania Trust medical team, said they transported at least 10 injured people to the hospital for treatment.
