2 killed in truck–motorcycle crash on Dhaka–Sylhet highway
Two young men were killed in a collision between a truck and a motorcycle on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria.
The accident occurred around 6:00 pm on Wednesday (January 14) at the Sonarampur Bridge in Ashuganj upazila.
The deceased were identified as Samaun (20) and Abdur Rahman (23), both residents of Lakshmipur village in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district.
According to local residents and police sources, the two men were traveling toward Bhairab on a motorcycle in the evening. When they reached the Sonarampur Bridge, their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding truck. The motorcycle was badly mangled, and both riders sustained critical injuries.
Locals rescued them and rushed them to Ashuganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared both dead.
Ashuganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Safiul Alam Chowdhury said police were dispatched to the accident site and the hospital after receiving the report. However, before police arrived, the victims’ relatives had already taken the bodies to Bhairab.
Hatikhata Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Jahangir Alam said preliminary information about the accident has been received and that further details will be collected before taking necessary legal action.
