2 more foreign medical teams arriving tonight to treat Milestone victims
Two additional foreign medical teams from Singapore and China are arriving in Dhaka tonight to provide specialized support for the treatment of victims injured in the recent jet crash at Milestone School and College, Health Services Division Secretary Md Saidur Rahman confirmed on Thursday (July 24).
These teams will join ongoing efforts at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) and other hospitals where 67 injured patients are currently receiving treatment. Of them, 43 are admitted to NIBPS at Dhaka Medical College, 21 at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), one at Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, and one at Uttara Adhunik Medical College Hospital.
A Singaporean team already present in Dhaka has been reviewing medical documentation and visuals over the past two days. According to Rahman, the team expressed satisfaction with Bangladesh’s standard of burn care but has recommended a few advanced treatment techniques in select cases, which are now being considered for implementation.
Earlier today, a group of expert physicians from India also visited the NIBPS and positively reviewed the ongoing treatment. The government is expected to assess recommendations from all foreign medical experts, including the teams arriving tonight, before deciding whether any patients need to be sent abroad for advanced care.
Saidur Rahman emphasized that each injured individual is receiving treatment from a team of specialists under direct government supervision. “There is no scope for misinformation. All names and treatment details of the injured and deceased are being meticulously recorded,” he said.
He further assured the public that the Ministry of Health is operating under the highest level of government directive to ensure world-class care for every victim of the tragedy.
