Two people were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and a bus on Friday in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila. The deceased are Abbas Mia, 70, and Madhu Mia, 65, of Sherpur's Sadar upazila. Of the two, Abbas Mia was the president of Sherpur CNG Owners Association. KM Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moulvibazar Police Station confirmed the accident. He said the accident took place when the bus bound for Sherpur reached Durlabpur under Kanakpur union and then it hit the auto-rickshaw around 12:30pm. Abbas and Madhu died on the spot and six including a child suffered injuries in the incident. The injured were taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital and Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

মৌলভীবাজার সদর উপজেলার শেরপুর সড়কের দুর্লভপুর এলাকায় সিএনজি ও বাস মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে দুই জন নিহত হয়েছেন। এ সময় আহত হয়েছেন শিশুসহ কমপক্ষে ছয় জন। নিহতরা হলেন- শেরপুর সিএনজি সমিতির সভাপতি আবাস মিয়া (৭০) ও মধু মিয়া (৬৫)। তাদের বাড়ি সদর উপজেলার শেরপুর এলাকায়। শুক্রবার (১৯ জানুয়ারি) দুপুর ১২টার দিকে সদর উপজেলার দুর্লভপুর নামকস্থানে ঘটনাটি ঘটে। মৌলভীবাজার মডেল থানার ওসি কে এম নজরুল ইসলাম বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। তিনি বলেন, "আজ দুপুর ১২টার দিকে মৌলভীবাজার শহর থেকে শেরপুর অভিমুখে ছেড়ে যাওয়া লোকাল বাস দুর্লভপুর নামক স্থানে একটি সিএনজির সঙ্গে মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে ঘটনাস্থলে দুই জন নিহত ও ছয় জন আহত হন।" আহতদেরকে মৌলভীবাজার সদর হাসপাতালে ও সিলেট ওসমানী হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
