2 police officers injured in teen gang attack in Bogura

Two police officers were injured in an attack by a teen gang while trying to seize a damaged motorcycle after a road accident in the Kalitala area of Bogura. The incident occurred at around 11:30pm on Tuesday (April 15).

The injured police officers are Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Rahman and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ahmed Ali of the Fulbari police outpost. They are currently receiving treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMC).

According to the police, after receiving information about a motorcycle accident in the Kalitala area, the SI and ASI arrived at the scene. They rescued an unidentified man and woman injured in the accident and sent them to the hospital. However, when they tried to take the damaged motorcycle into custody, the friends of the injured victims attacked the police. The group of attackers, including some other teenagers, formed a mob and beat the officers with punches, kicks, and sticks.

The attackers then seized the motorcycle from the police and left the scene. Additional police arrived at the location, rescued the injured officers, and sent them to the hospital.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, SM Moin Uddin, stated, "The friends of the accident victims attacked the police to seize the motorcycle from their custody."

He also mentioned that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the attack, and that the two injured police officers are out of danger.
