2 shot, 20 injured as Shibir-BNP lock horn in Chattogram
A clash between Chhatra Shibir and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations is underway in Chawkbazar area of the port city. At least 20 people from both sides were injured in this clash. Among the injured, two Shibir activists have been admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
This situation arose after a Shibir activist named Fahim was beaten up around 11:30 pm on Monday.
Filing the report around 2 am, Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists are stationed around Gulzar intersection of Chawkbazar police station in the city while BNP activists led by expelled Jubo Dal leader Emdadul Haque Badshah have taken a position at Kachabazar intersection in Chawkbazar.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chawkbazar police station Mohammad Jahidul Kabir said: "There is tension between Chhatra Dal and Shibir over the incident of beating up a student and handing him over to the police. We are trying to calm both sides and so far the law and order situation is under control."
