2 smugglers arrested with drugs worth 4 crore in Cox’s Bazar
In Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, the Coast Guard has arrested two drug traffickers with yaba tablets valued at nearly 40 million Taka.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque, the media officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the incident on Wednesday (14 January).
He stated that, based on confidential information, a special operation was conducted at the Coast Guard Station in Teknaf at 1 pm on Tuesday. During the operation, a wooden boat in the Naf River, located in the Naitongpara area under Teknaf Police Station, was searched. Approximately 75,000 yaba tablets worth about 3.75 crore Taka were recovered from the boat, and two individuals were arrested.
He further mentioned that the seized yaba, the boat used for smuggling, and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
The Coast Guard also stated that such operations to prevent drug trafficking will continue in the future.
