2 trade bodies get new administrators
The Ministry of Commerce has appointed administrators to oversee the Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association and the Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association, citing mismanagement within the organisations.
The appointments were confirmed in two separate office orders signed by Muhammad Rehan Uddin, director general (Current Charge) of the Trade Organisations Division, on Wednesday (July 9).
According to the order, Joint Secretary Shayla Yasmin has been appointed as the administrator of the Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association, while Deputy Secretary Md Abdul Malek will serve as the administrator of the Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association.
The ministry stated that due to irregularities and a lack of proper governance, the reconstituted boards of directors of both organizations have been dissolved. The administrators have been tasked with restoring order and organizing fair, free, and impartial elections.
They are required to hand over responsibilities to newly elected committees within 120 days and report the progress to the ministry.
