The High Court ordered the removal of two Upazila Nirbahi Officers and two officers-in-charge of Gaibandha ahead of the 12th national elections. A High Court bench of Justice Md Iqbal Kabir and Justice SM Moniruzzaman passed the order on Wednesday (January 3). The court asked to remove the UNOs and OCs of Saghata and Phulchari upazilas in Gaibandha-5 constituency. The petitioner's lawyer Barrister ABM Altaf Hossain confirmed the matter.

আসন্ন জাতীয় নির্বাচনে গাইবান্ধার দুই উপজেলার নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) ও থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তাকে সরিয়ে দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট। বুধবার (৩ জানুয়ারি) বিচারপতি মো. ইকবাল কবীর ও বিচারপতি এস এম মনিরুজ্জামানের হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ এ আদেশ দেন। জানা গেছে, নির্বাচনের আগে গাইবান্ধা-৫ আসনের অন্তর্ভুক্ত সাঘাটা ও ফুলছড়ির ইউএনও এবং ওসিদের সরিয়ে দিতে বলেছেন আদালত। আদালতের নির্দেশের&nbsp;বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন রিটকারীর আইনজীবী ব্যারিস্টার এবিএম আলতাফ হোসেন। আগামী ৭ জানুয়ারি দেশজুড়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন। ইতিমধ্যে নির্বাচনটি গ্রহণযোগ্য করতে নানান পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে নির্বাচন কমিশন।
